So.....who is planning on attending the Reading PA National? I was just browsing the registration details and it looks like there are some interesting events, several of which (Bulgari Collection, Strasburg Railroad, battleship New Jersey) I've visited before and all are worthwhile.

For me, Reading will be less than a 300 mile round trip plus another perhaps 150 on the various driving tours and all of this without any or many miles on Interstates so I'm planning on driving the 1934 Eight to the event.

Just back from the Reading PA National Meet, and a wonderful 6 days it was! I took the 56 Caribbean and it performed flawlessly - about 450 miles door to door. Good weather (a few nightime showers and one daytime sprinkle), a lovely hotel (Crown Plaza) which treated us royally, organization and execution were near flawless, a large and excellent vendor/swap meet section, excellent tours and a gorgeous venue for show day. I'd guess about 300 attendees and perhaps 100 Packards ranging from 1910 thru 1958 were present. It's hard to pick the best daily tour but many would say it was being the first group to visit the just completed Bulgari facilities in Allentown. Stay tuned for some photos as I get time to select and post them.

The available agenda for tours was as follows, evening events included a pool-side welcome party, tech sessions, fashion & talent show, and closing banquet.

Sunday: Pollock Auto Restorations, about a 45 mile round trip.
Monday: RR Museum of PA, Strasburg RR, National Toy Train Museum, about a 70 mile round trip.
Tuesday: The Bulgari Collection and American of Wheels Museum (also in Allentown), about an 80 mile round trip.
Wednesday: Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, about a 46 mile round trip; Mid-Atlantic Air Museum (in Reading), 8 mile round trip.
Thursday: Bus tour to Camden NJ to visit the Battleship New Jersey and the Adventure Aquarium.
Friday: Show day and required tour for cars to be judged, about a 26 mile round trip.

In addition and by very special arrangement by Roger Luksik, we were privileged to see the Detroit Free Press/Brian Kaufman film "Packard - The Last Shift" at the Reading IMAX theater on Wednesday evening.

Next year at Traverse City, Michigan.

Dave,

It took us a little longer to get home, but we made it ok.

There are pictures of the meet on the PAC Facebook page, if anyone here does it, or if you have a spouse, child, or friend tell them to look at it.

1. Our only bus tour, to Philadelphia to see the Battleship New Jersey and the Adventure Aquarium. That especially smiley face on the left side is Bob Goldstein, our tour leader for the day.
2. Arrival at BB-62. That lovely 34 1101 was not part of our group, just a fellow Packard fan who drove up from Chevy Chase MD just to greet us.
3. Phila. Seaport Museum across the river, 4-masted Moshulu and cruiser Olympia, Admiral Dewey's flagship at the Battle of Manila Bay in the Spanish American War.
4. Inside BB-62-s turret #2.
5. Awaiting our tickets at the Aquarium.
6-7. General view of the show field at the Conrad Weiser Homestead on Friday.
