On a cold winter's night I'll post some non Packard pictures from the Fairfield Concours.


First up is a Winton. about 1907. Stu Laidlaw, a well know brass era authority is at the helm

Next
a 4 1/2 liter Bentley with the original closed body. Of course most of these were sold with "civilian" bodies when new but seem to acquire the open Le Mans bodies somewhere along the line. This restoration was so fresh that the interior smelled like a pair of new leather shoes !

Two Mercer Raceabouts. The yellow car is a beautiful restoration that lives close by in New Jersey. The original red car was owned for a long time by the late Peter Helck, the artist. Since he was active with it in the 30's and 40's it is probably the example that made the Mercer's reputation later years

1911 Mercedes, ex Ralph DePalma, 11 liter four cylinder engine, chain drive. Note that it is set up for competition and sport -no lights! Mercedes cars built before the merger with Benz have the three pointed star but not the Benz wreath of triumph around it
