Greenwich (CT) concours d'Elegance 2018

Post by Dave Czirr » Sat Jun 02, 2018 12:04 pm

The weatherman predicted a rainy, miserable day which no doubt held down the cars and spectators. However it did turn out to be a lovely, warm, blue-sky day. Greenwich is gradually changing and for my tastes, not for the better. More and more exhibitors and vendors taking space away from the cars, things like like yacht brokers, retirement homes, watches and leather goods, etc. The Bonham auction tent seems to take more and more space each year, and of course more and more of the exhibited cars are more recent vintages. Nevertheless, still a very worthwhile day and here's just a few photos of some of my favorites this year.

An 1101 convertible sedan in the Bonham auction tent.
Special class this year for Cunninghams, must have been more than 20 of them!
The Auburn is a 1935 851.
The 7th Series Packard phaeton is a 740.
The '34 Twelve convertible victoria by Dietrich is Judge Cassini's, 2013 Pebble Best of Show winner.

I love the length of 34 Victoria convertible but a drooping door handle on such a beautiful car is such a turn off.
The Chrysler is gorgeous as well!
Well to be honest they're all beautiful but those 2 stand out to me.

Is the Chrysler a custom build car by Waterhouse?

Do you know what the wheelbase on that car Dave? It looks like its every bit of 140+ inches.

CG series, 145" wheelbase. Thought to be one of 3 survivors of 6 originally built.

I believe it is still owned by Mr. Hank Hallowell.

You are correct, Dave, Mr. Hallowell owns that stunning Victoria. Here's a picture I took of it on May 26 in Huntingdon Valley, PA.
