1953 Packard Patrician - transmission oil

Post by jhansen251 » Sun Sep 30, 2018 12:34 pm

Hello All.
New packard owner here. Bought a 1953 Patrician (Image attachd) . Discovered that I may have transmission issues.
Park Neutral High Low Reverse.
All work fine but High. In High, it acts just like neutral. No issues with Low and reverse.
I have a service manual. Starts with recommending checking transmission oil, and fill if necessary.
Problem is, I cannot find dipstick and fill.
Any help please?

Manual says possible 5 issues:
1. Low transmission fluid
2. Selector control linkage disconnected or out of adjustment.
3. Loss of pressure to high range clutch position.
4. Sticking or inoperative modulating valve.
5. Burned or worn clutch plates

As with some other early automatics, the dip stick and filler neck are accessed from underneath, driver side of trans. I believe it is pictured in the manual.
