Twelve water pump removal

Post by Bluedevil » Sun Mar 31, 2019 11:18 am

I have taken out 6 nuts/bolts on the water pump housing and detached the down hose.

It won't move. Am I missing something? It turns, but with effort.

I'm trying to visualize it but my memory isn't cooperating, a couple of photos would help unless someone comes along with a direct answer. My recollection is an extremely simple and direct attachment, maybe your impellor has rusted in the cavity?

I thought about the impeller, but the pump turns, so I would dismiss that. It does look simple. Unless there is something with the shaft, pulley or compression nut, I will just keep soaking it with various hydrocarbons/oils and getting a bigger and bigger hammer.

Good to hear. And check the shop manual for impeller clearance specs, VERY important.
