oil pan removal on '49

Post by grandpacar » Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:52 am

I'm looking to remove the pan on a '49 2301 series with 288 engine. Will the flywheel cover need to come off? There's an inaccessible bolt on the end of the cover towards transmission that is hard up against a framing member that would be hard to remove.
I've seen discussion here that the cover might have to be removed and I've watched the videos from Wesley Boyer where he removed the cover. He had the same bolt and had just enough room for its removal, but my car is a different model with no clearance at the bolt. I don't think I can do the job if that cover has to be off.
Lots of great information on this site. Hoping someone is familiar with my setup.
Thanks,
Mike
