1940 120 brown leather interior question

Post by dak955 » Mon Apr 06, 2015 8:25 am

Hello. I am trying to determine if it is possible that the interior in my recently purchased 1940 120 club coupe could be the original brown leather interior or possibly if it was redone, was it redone correctly. I nave had the seats out and the material is definately leather and not vinyl as I originally thought. There is enough wear that indicates it is older. Since the car only has 80,000 original miles, I am wondering if in fact it did survive. I tried to attach a picture but I get a message indicating the file is too large. Any help is appreciated.

Hi

I encountered a nicely-preserved original 1940 120 club coupe at a collector car dealer in Hamburg, NY in the late 1990's that had all original tan-brown leather interior. It apparently was optional for those who wished to order it. Export cars typically were fitted with leather interiors for their greater durability.

Please try reducing the photo file sizes and post them, we'd love to see them. There is a free share-ware from Irfanview.com that work great available on-line.

Thanks for the reply Steve. Hopefully the attached picture comes through. By the way, do you remember what color the car was that you saw with the leather interior? Thanks.

Hi

Your interior looks the same color and condition, though vague memory was the car was Packard Ivory or light gray. How about a look at the whole car? 120's are such a sweetheart to drive and look great!

Hi dak955

Your 120 is a sweetheart! Looks wonderful in that sand color, bet its just as wonderful to drive too. It could very well be the very 120 coupe with leather interior I encountered 15-20 years ago. Nice to know its in appreciative hands now.
