Hood ornament

Post by Payneangelfire » Thu Apr 15, 2021 2:22 pm

Gentlemen and ladies,
I am new to the Packard Forum. I currently own and enjoy driving a 1939 Cadillac LaSalle Coupe and a 1935 Buick Special 46c Convertible.

I am strongly considering the purchase of a 1934 Packard Series 1100. But it does not have a hood ornament. What type hood ornament did this type Packard have as standard equipment?-a cormorant? -a donut chaser? Or something else? And where can I get one?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The standard equipment factory cap was a plain bail cap, the others were extra cost options. The Pelican and Goddess of Speed have been reproduced in varying qualities and materials of construction by many vendors over the years; I'm not sure who the current makers might be but contacting the major Packard vendors should tell you what's currently on the market.

I hope you enjoy your 1100, I've had mine since 1963 and driven it tens of thousands of miles, you'll find it to be a delightful car with excellent road manners.

Welcome to the Packard Club and to this website. The standard radiator cap for 1934 was the bail cap, pictured here. The pelican/cormorant and the flying lady/donut chaser were optional.

There are three sources for hood ornaments listed in the Packard Yellow Pages, available for download on this site's home page. They are listed under Mascots. Good luck with your potential purchase.
