Badge Restoration

Post by Coach Js » Sat Apr 24, 2021 6:06 am

Hi guys,

Has anyone ever painted one of these? What did you use to strip the old paint off? And, what paint/colors did you use to get the original metallic shine back? My goal would be to make the right one look like the left one in the photos below. Thank you as always.

Many have tried but painting the emblems has so far always seemed to leave results with a bit more to be desired. No one seems to have any ideas on how the original process was done but repainting the backside with ordinary paints typically sold at hobby shops usually has them come out looking dull when viewed from the front.

Having said that, there is a fellow who posts at Packardinfo that seems to have made a commendable first attempt. By his own admission, his effort is not perfect but in the photos he posted the emblem looks fairly decent. Here is his post which mentions some of the products and process he used. https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modu ... post226951

Thank you for the link. He has some nice details and suggestions. Wont be easy, as I'm not much of an artist. But, I'm sure I can make look better than what I have now.
