As the subject will no doubt come up, let me post an excerpt from a 1953 AC fuel pump & filter catalog. Black square after the number denotes "pump no longer available" and the asterick (*) denotes a double-action fuel and vacuum pump. Also note that some pumps can interchange by changing the actuating arm and/or rotating the head on the base casting in one direction or another; as I recall Hollander's Interchange Manual goes into some detail on this.
