Taillight dismantlement

Post by stivmac » Fri Aug 24, 2018 10:28 am

I have what appears to be a tail/brake light for a ca '36 Packard 8. It is a large bullet shaped affair. I need to get the lens off so I can rewire it. I managed to unscrew the little center bit, but the main lens won't budge. I don't want to break the glass or trash the chrome ring. Neither moves and I can't think prying at the chrome ring is a good idea. So, what's the trick? Thanks!

picture please. If you have removed the small screw at the bottom, gently prying the chrome ring off should be the process - further encouragement really requires knowing which tail light you are working on...

There is no screw at the bottom. I don't seem to see how to post a photo.
