proper fuel pressure

Post by grandpacar » Sun Apr 25, 2021 9:30 am

Hi all,

Can someone give me the ideal fuel pressure for '49 packard 288? Carb is Carter WDO 644SA. Fuel pump is mechanical.

Thanks,
Mike

Mechanical fuel pumps such as on your Packard typically deliver 3 to 4-3/4 psi and anything in that range should give your good performance. Pressures much above 6 psi can overwhelm the carburetor needle and seat inlet valve.
