Access to components under dash

Post by dienes83646 » Thu Nov 04, 2010 11:19 am

I have a 1938 Packard, 1601 Series, 4-dr Touring Sedan.

How do you remove the dash to gain access to gauges, etc? I've removed the 4 screws on the bottom edge, but something is holding it at the top section. I don't want to tear anything up unnessarily.

Typ. pulling the pod out from the dash is the best and sometimes the only way to get to the inst/wiring. Pretty sure this is how the factory did their assy.

 Little trick i do is if theres wing nuts holding the pod in place there always hard to get to because there in further than the instrument so i replace them with coupling nuts (3/4" tall). Next time u have to pull the pod and u will have to do it again its a hell of a lot easier to get to the coupling nuts.
